Yes, I will be giving my SO a gift. In fact, I gave him his gift last night so he could start thinking about how to get it. The gift: Permission to use his tax return on a Wii. I will probably also get him some chocolates or something for around the house that he wants.
Yes, I will be getting a gift in return. Last year he got me a box of chocolates from the local chocolatier, which was wonderful.
Yes, we will be going out to dinner. Yes, it's a place of my choosing (Mongolian grill) but I will be paying. Yes, I will be getting him a card and I anticipate he will do the same.
Yes, I will be getting cards for my parents as well. In my family, Valentines Day isn't just about showing your significant other how much you love them--it's about showing ALL the people you love how much you love them and how much you cherish the special relationship you have with them. Growing up, we always got special gifts and cards on Valentines Day. I still honor that tradition by sending friends cards and sending my parents cards. I am encouraging the young children I care for to do the same. In fact, today we are going to make about 15 Valentines for family and friends that the kids can give away.
