Topper doesn't care, as long as I'm happy, it's fine with him. however, we tend to have the same taste anyway, so maybe I've just never tested it
One place where he drew the line was the big white canopy I used to have over the bed (think: expensive mosquito net) But that was only because he kept getting his feet stuck in it at night.
One of the big splurges everyone must have is 1000 count sateen sheets, we have them in white and yellow. Yes, they cost a pretty penny, but these things get softer and softer with each washing and last a long time. I've been really happy with them.
