Look around your town; chances are at least one of the small, independent coffeeshops you know of sells beans or ground coffee. That's how I usually get my coffee, and the price is usually very reasonable, since it's a local, bulk product. Furthermore, at some places I get more choice than I would get at a grocery store, and more ability to choose where my coffee comes from and what kind of roast it has.
If you're drinking Starbucks and Peet's already you're not going to be satisfied by Folger's or another big can brand, so really inexpensive coffee is probably out of the question.
