I almost died today.
I usually skateboard or walk the mile or so to my job and after what couldn't have been more than a second spent turning the volume up on my mp3 player I found a fast approaching hunk of off-white painted metal approaching all too quickly to my right.
I've dealt with crazy New York traffic my entire life and so almost being hit usually has little to no effect on me but today I was rather terrified simply because I did nothing as the car got closer and closer. If it weren't for the momentum I had already built up I'd have probably been frozen to the spot and as a result flattened by the car.
Luckily enough, the car slowed and I was cruising with enough speed to avoid a collision and pass the car by a few inches.
As a result of the situation I've decided to sign up for driving lessons tomorrow.
