I'm pretty cynical about this move, though I hope guccilvr and pigglet are right.
I imagine he'll play for 1-2 years, get paid a fraction of the $225mil, and then retire to focus on fully branding himself for the North American market. If he's really interested in promoting the game over here, he should buy at eam when he retires like Wayne Gretzky did.
Toronto is getting a team in this league next year, so there was a lot of local attention to this story and the hope that he'll grace our field with his presence.
