Back in the late eighties every house on my block except for my parents and my next door neighbors got broken into. My neighbor and my dad were talking about that one day and my neighbor told my dad he was looking into getting a dog since we had a fairly intimidating dog at the time and they didn't. The next day the neighbor's son was arrested for breaking into another house. The neighbor never bothered getting a dog.
