We once lived next a very large, very backwards, very eccentric old woman who used to dig holes in her backyard at night. That always gave us the creeps. But as far as we know she was harmless.
And at one time we lived in an apartment complex and our apartment was edged by a small wooded area in which a floral shop owner was shot execution-style by a couple of teenagers who robbed her store...for five bucks. I was home at the time with my daughter who was less than a year old. That haunted me for years. I was so happy when we finally moved out of that place.
