It definitely looked staged to me, but on both parties accounts.
I like how at the end, Dr Phil says "I'm not going to give you any help to publicize this", and THATS EXACTLY WHAT HE DID!
It works out for both parties.. the guy gets to publicize Bum Fights on national tv, and now the clip is spreading all around on viral video sites. Any consumer that would likely purchase those tapes would obviously side with him, while Dr Phil gets bumped up a couple notches in the eyes of his viewers. Win Win for both of them.
Phil probably got tons of encouraging mail and support from his crazy fans, and I can guarantee you, Bum Fights is getting a decent spike in sales off of this.
