Are Citibank credit cards through Visa? If so, you have 100% fraud protection.....
As far as recommending a credit card, they are all very similar. American Express makes you pay it off in full at the end of each month. The rest usually make you pay a minimum payment on the balance.
I love credit cards. Gets you out of baaaad situations. Just don't run a balance; have the discipline to not spend more than you have (or will have in the near future).
