I have an Asus and really like it. Having said that, I went against Nimetic's advice and got the top of the line model (as it has a decent video card) and maxed out the memory.
My advice (and this is not laptop specific). You are better off getting more memory at the cost of getting a slower processor. A computer with a slightly slower CPU but more memory will last for longer than a faster CPU without enough memory.
I cannot comment on either of the machines you have asked about.
