I had to post this somewhere! A couple weeks ago my room mate traded a car for a ford ranger and a bronco II. unfortunately the B II was partially disasembeled. the entire front axle assembly had been remover from the truck and the front of said truck was sitting on the ground in the previous owners back yard.
Now, While we do have a trailer, we had no way to get a truck with no axel on the trailer especially with the truck situated as it was between a fence and a house with little more room then was nessesary to squeeze it into.
So here comes the MacGuyver plan! We go out armed with an old U.S. Navy Issue adjustable universal chain on tow bar similar to what you used to be able to rent from U-Haul, some Jacks and a 5" drop hitch with the ball mounted in reverse fashion for a 5" rise.
Now the fun part, we go out, finish removing the axel, only held on by the sway bar and the drive shaft, all other suspension components had previously been removed. securely fasten the tow bar with a slight downward angle and jack up the front of the truck until it is high enough to couple to the tow ball behind the exploder.
The result? Instant trailer! kinda cool, I wish I had gotten more pics while it was still daylight out but I had left the camera at home. We did get a few interesting looks at intersections when we passed by other motorists!
