I think The Sixth Scence would make a good topic, definately Shaymalan's (sp) best, theme could be unexpected plot twists that are plainly obvious after knowing the outcome.
In a similar "twist" category is The Usual Suspects. Although both of these are mainstream, I think a good report could be done on either.
On the lighter side, there is actually A LOT happening beneath the surface in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
