I would highly recommend teaching him to go to the bathroom on command. I've done it with mine and it comes in handy quite often. a Little harder but more of a 'trick' would be to teach him to lift his leg and go on a specific object. Its even better when you teach a girl dog to do this.
I also like teaching dogs to 'shake' themselves, that whole body shake that starts at the head and runs don to the tail to remove water. that is a good one if you have been out in the rain and would like him a bit drier before he comes in the house. can also be used as a 'trick' by giving the command to him when he is wet and standing next to some unsuspecting person.
Also most recommended is teaching hand signals and whistle commands. they can come in useful all the time and you can have a quieter communication with your dog that will impress and amaze your friends and neighbours.
