Not true at all. Instant judgments are made all the time and they dramatically effect whether you would seriously date a person or not. Just imagine the last time you met a pleasant, sub-average-looking 40-something-year old working as, for example, a cashier. Sure you don't know their whole story, but does that mean that you'd give them the same chance as, say, an attractive 30-something who works on Wall St.?
Back to the original question: "Person A says that Person B is way out of Person C's league"
That means that Person B is virtually unattainable to Person C, who exists in a higher stratosphere than Person B. Person A is probably just trying to avoid Person C, a likely friend, from emotionally/physically sacrificing themselves for the practically unattainable.
