You have no time to ask them questions.
If you talk to the kid, you won't have time to save the old man. Heck, if you waste time talking, you won't have time to save the kid -- he'll die while you are gabbing away.
Pick. You have your information -- one is a young kid, at the start of his life, but a real jerk. The other is a saintly old man, and the end of his life.
Do you choose to save one? If so, which one do you save.
