I've never bought a brand new rifle but it's finally time. Average shot is probably around 125 yards. I don't typically take the shot over 200 because I don't shoot enough to comfortable that far out.

My two current rifles are a Remington 700 in 30-06 and a Winchester Model 70 in 270. Both pretty similar to each other. I'd like to try another brand/have another brand of rifle. And I've been looking at synthetic stock and stainless barrel bolt action rifles.

With the Ruger M77 Ultra Light it's going to be about a pound lighter then what I currently have chambered in either round. I was looking for people's experiences with the accuracy and recoil in a lighter rifle with a shorter barrel. Does it change much or should I just not worry about it?
