I don't think the OP ever implied that open markets are inately evil. Just that they cannot be relied upon in all circumstances, leaving them enitirely to their own devices, entirely unregulated.
I know that Libertarians want to minimise the interference in the efficiency of the free market, but do Libertarians believe that the market should be regulated
at all? Take as an example polution controls. Would it go against Libertarian philosophy to charge companies for "carbon credits", so as to provide them an incentive to cut down on pollution, an incentive which is not obviously provided by the free market? (Note that this is just an example - don't want to discuss the for and against for this particular control)
