I don't think the ad system is live yet, so I think we see generic ingame ads where the real ads will be. As long as the ads aren't intrusive and somewhat fit the theme of the game, I don't care at all... I've seen so many people getting up in arms about this advertisement thing, calling it adware, or spyware, but I just look at it like this:
EA is providing a service for us besides just releasing the game. They provide a login server so everybody can have a unique name that nobody else can steal (unless somebody steals your name before you can register, which happened to me
). On top of that they provide a detailed ranking/rewards system, medals, unlocks, stats tracking for yourself and other players, and a buddy list that currently works better than steam's buddy list (I STILL can't add my friends to steam and see what they're playing and join their server...). EA is providing this free of charge, but I can guarantee maintaining the servers that run all of this stuff is NOT free.
So yeah, I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but it annoys me that some people are so desperate for something to bitch about, that they'd point this thing out and make such a big deal about it. The ingame ads aren't a big enough reason to deprive yourself of this awesome game.
