There are plenty of them. They're just not sane.
I really had to FORCE myself to keep reading that article after I found the word "partner" in quotes. And it only got worse from there. How can you hope to be the "morals" party when that's the demographic you have to appease?

This is true. Although, I guess because I know some sane Republicans (really!), I can see how Karl Rove's seduction of the fundamentalist nutjob segment has become a real thorn in their side (ie, an embarrassment). It happens to be my belief that very few members, and perhaps none, of the Bush Administration share the beliefs of this shrieking radical constituency they so readily adopted for their votes (with the exception of the long-gone Mr. John Ashcroft). It's always been my contention that the ultra-religious right were
had, because what we have in power in Washington are
neo-conservatives, and neo-conservatives are not historically prone to social conservatism. I take comfort in the fact that these prophecy junkies are now being largely ignored (and occasionally denied) by "their" government. Watching them strut around after the gay marriage ballots and 2004 election as if they were sitting in the White House themselves was very depressing. (note: I was living in a very small, very religious, very conservative small southern town in 2004...I have issues related to post-election trauma
