I don't have a chequebook (yeah, it's spelt
cheque 
) and doubt I'll ever get one. Like gal, I use direct debit for all the regular bills and payments and have never experienced any problems, other than bank charges. Apparently South African banks are some of the most expensive worldwide in this regard. Still, it beats paying for things in cash, as it costs just as much in charges to get your friggin money from the ATM.
