I like having my mattress on the boxspring, and the whole thing right on the floor, no frame holding them up. I don't know why, but for some reason it actually seems like LESS of a good idea and seems to make odd noises when I try to jump on it. lol
Not only is it low to the ground, so it improves look of the open space of the room, but it also allows one to just lie down into it... no climbing up or scooting onto it, I just lie down onto it. And no, I don't like it that way because I used to fall out of bed- people always seem to ask me that.
It really came about because I once had a frame that was "ok", but not "great", and sex with the new girlfriend was not "just good" or even "great", but "insanely great", and we broke the fucking frame IN HALF. The motion snapped off a half-dozen metal rivets that held the metal frame pieces together... and that was after only a few days of sex.
When we were done laughing at having BROKEN the bed, I removed the frame and put the boxpsrings and mattress directly on the floor, with the intention of getting a new frame soon... but... suddenly the bed didn't
give... and it made no noise... and it didn't bang against the wall...
And we said "wow".
And my mattress has stayed on the floor since then.
