The first one, yes. I'd say, "I try to be the best wife I can be." It's very unlikely that I'm a perfect wife, so if I were to say "I
am the best" that wouldn't really be accurate.
The second one I'd phrase as "I love Sissy," which means much the same, so that one I'm fine with.
