Here's another suggestion for caution. Latex paints hate Goo Gone. Even if it sticks, you can end up with a wall that looks like someone left a piece of pizza on the other side.
If the wall surface is at all smooth, the residue should be easy to sand without damage. How much residue? Try warming it up so it'll ball up again, or cooling it so it crumbles.
