i had a bike in 1992, rode it all over the place in NYC and upstate NY. It was wonderful!
But I don't have ANY control over the other driver, which is what finally did me in on Route 4 after a 100 mile uneventful ride, I was 1 mile from home and I got hit from some young girl who pulled out of the gas station and instead of pulling into the closest lane swung wide into the middle lane which I moved to so that she had plenty of space.
Busted collarbone, a chunk of my ankle, scarred knuckles, totalled bike... i take public transportation and have a car now.
