Badass: This single guy stood his ground against Ghengis Khan and his army. He took out Khan's horse with a javelin/bow. Khan was so amazed by the man's bravery that he made him a general.
Toughest:
Miyamoto Musashi. This legendary swordsman was undeafeted. He came out victorious in over 60 duels, and a war. A peculiarity of his was his preference of using a bokken (wooden sword) even when his opponent had a real sword, and, depending on the terms of the duelers, kill them with it. He was said to have died from thoracic cancer.
