Barking
My dog rarely barks. She usually mumbles (you really have to hear this to believe it). It's almost like talking. SOmetimes she whines a bit but that's the extent of her vocabulary.
However, she barks when there are strangers at the door or at certain (sketchy looking/acting)people. This is the only time she barks (unless I step on her foot by accident, then she yelps/barks). She is a submissive dof and rather well behaved with a great disposition (very friendly). The barking kind of baffles me. I don't like it when she does it cause it freaks people out at the door. She won't stop when I tell her too and I end up having tochase her around the house to calm her down/get her to stop barking. The funny thing is, she wags her tail the whole time so I don't think she's "protecting" me.
She never growls either. Only if we get very enthusiastic during intense tug-of-war play and when she does I put a stop to it right away. In fact, if I growl at her, she usually puts her head down and liesd own or rolls over or crawls towards me and licks me. Her ears go down and she wags her tail quickly too.
Any thoughts to what's causing the barking and/or how to stop/curb it?
