I love coinstar. I know it takes a percentage, but I'd rather use my time doing something besides rolling coins...I figure the hour+ it would take to roll them is worth more than the few dollars I'd save. However, long ago hubby and I used our loose change to fund a trip to Disneyland; we took his sister and paid for her entire trip in spare change (she was 14 or so and therefore didn't have a job). Once a week or so we eagerly pulled out our wrappers and rolled what we had accumulated, and added the rolls to the ever-expanding pile. Rolling those coins was very fulfilling, so no..it's not weird
One funny thing about Coinstar...when I worked in NC we had one in our store, and it was inevitable that when someone stopped in to use it another customer would stare in utter fascination, standing for several minutes to watch the entire process, and then leave remarking on it. It killed me.
