I use my pets given name whatever the issue might be, if i'm petting him, praising him, or punishing. That's also why I only choose names that have one or two syllables. It just makes a person look really strange to see them yelling at their animal with the name of 'Baxter Bartholomew' and have them call it BB when they aren't mad at it.
