You're right. Most of The Longest Journey
is like that. No, it doesn't really change. There is a fight scene at one point but you can't lose really. For me that wasn't a problem because the story line remained interesting to me throughout the game. Though I can certainly understand why you liked Grim Fandango better since it has much more comedy. Perhaps Longest Journey is more of a "chick game".
Anyways, thanks again everyone. These suggestions are really awesome! I've been meaning to try those Gabriel Knight games as I've heard so much about them. Where to find them though..... I wish I had gotten into gaming much earlier. Especially as this genre is nearly dead.
Just wanted to mention that I also played this other game Sanitarium. That was pretty cool and inventive. Almost too short though. I finished it in one weekend.
