So...It's been a week, and just before bed I find the scale reading 227.5, thats 11 lbs in 3 weeks, pretty good I think, hopefully I can keep this up. On a somewhat encouraging note, most of my pants are becoming too loose in the waist, as my gf has pointed out my butt seems to be disappearing. So I can now fit into a waist size smaller pants.

if you want to lose weight, one thing that really helps is to stay away from processed/refined foods like bleached white flour, refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup and any hydrogenated oils. that means most things in a box besides shredded wheat and triskets! actually, there are quite a few good cereals in places like whole foods, you just have to read the box and be an informed consumer!
there are some pretty good flavored waters out there that don't have the density of gatoraide but do tatse good. about the only time gatoraide is good is if you are working out, need an electrolyte replacement and can't get your hands on any of the other ones like cytomax, accelerade, etc.

True, but it only leads to fat storage if your body doesn't have any need for the simple/refined sugars. I carry shingles up and down ladders 10 hrs/day for a summer job, and can use the extra sugar/electrolytes especially in the second half of the day when it's 80+ degrees outside.
