3M makes mounting squares that are double sided and leave no residue on the surfaces.
I used them in the dorm room. Some of their other products might suit your needs more.
The caveat with them, of course, is price. (16 in a pack for $1.60 or so). You could also cut them in halves or quarters, if you concerned about the money.
