...and some progress has been made.
Just wanted to throw in a quick update for those who took the trouble to read and reply to my last post:
I'm a work in progress...(Part I). It's very long, and I was suffering from a serious bout of overthinking my situation, which I've found can happen very easily when you are doing absolutely nothing else all day.
Since then, I've submitted coursework for the last 2 courses I needed to graduate. I passed one, and am awaiting the verdict in the other class. I've signed on at a temporary internship, which I sort of had to plead for. At first it bothered me, but then I realized I didn't really care. I'll do whatever it takes to get back on track. I've started serioulsy applying for jobs, and my first interview is Tuesday. Started reviewing for it today, didn't get too much done, but I'll ge tmore serious about it in the evening. Things with my family are a lot better, mostly because the major issue of me being a bum are being resolved and the lack of tension resulting from it has been especially nice. I'm trying to achieve a more well-balanced lifestyle, and in the pursuit of this, I have been working out everyday with weights at home. I've also cut down on my all the small things I was addicted to such as poker, anime, manga, and TV. Some of them, I've even quit completely.
I've realized 3 major lessons in the last couple of months that I thought I'd share. To many, it'll just be common sense, but to me, they were hard lessons:
1) You've sometimes got to sacrifice somethign you want now to gain something you'll need for the rest of your life.
2) When you screw up repeatedly, don't expect others to give you the benefit of the doubt when you are actually trying hard.
3) Falling back into bad habits is easy. Sticking with good habits is quite hard. And good things are rarely easily attainable.
I won't say that TFP was the reason for my turnaround. However, when you're down, every little bit of help you can find counts.
So, thank you, TFP. And to anyone who feels like they need to turn their life around, or needs to effect a small change in their life, good luck!
