If you've had long-term weight issues, the only way to maintain any semblance of weight loss is to become an exercise addict, meaning if you miss a workout or two, you start going thru withdrawl. That, combined with consuming less, are the only things that have ever worked for me. Also, do not try to crash 3-5 pounds off a weeK! You didn't gain the weight that quickly, you shouldn't lose it that quickly either. I've lost about 40 pounds over the last two years. It seems like a long time, but I'm in it for the long term. One more thing, stay away from the scale! The scale is a very crude way of measuring *success,* and it will sabatoge your efforts when you hit a plateau and become discouraged. At most, if you must check your weight, do it no more than once a month. Otherwise, pay attention to how you feel and how your clothes are fitting. That ought to give you a pretty accurate idea of how you are doing.
