I've struggled with the whole weight loss thing too. About 2 or 3 years ago I lost 45 pounds. I have managed to keep most of it off, but I did put on a little when I started my teaching job last year mainly because of stress. I am working towards getting it off though. It's still hard though because my emotions tend to dictate my food choices. I'm trying to work that out but it takes a long time.
I think the key to beginning weight loss is really working on your mind and your emotions. If you sit around telling yourself that you are a fat slob, then you probably will remain that way, because it's what you believe.
I know some of you are going to think this is totally cheesy but hear me out before you laugh. I read Dr. Phil's book "The Ultimate Weight Solution." Seriously it is an awesome book. It completely reprogrammed the way I think. You have to really want to lose weight when you read this book though, because it's not magic. It gave me a whole different perspective on life and on food. Everything in the book is very practical and it is a life long plan, not just a quick-fix diet. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with weight.
