Well, my last Air Rifle, a Crosman 2100 just broke, and I'm looking for something to replace it for shooting in the backyard etc. Basically something a good velocity (750+ fps?), as well as something easy to pump. The biggest gripe I had about the 2100 was for max velocity you had to pump it almost 10 times and that was a pain.

I've heard a little about break-barrel style air rifles, how do these work specifically? From what I gather they are single shot pellet guns? One thing I never liked about the pellets was that most were lead, leaving the powdery residue all over your hands. For those who have this type of rifle, is it a pain carrying around and loading the ammo?
