It would be like saying, "Picture a single M&M (plain)." It's impossible to picture an M&M without assigning unconsciously a very particular color for the M&M--you can't just visualize a generic M&M having no specific color! That's because visualizing means pretending to see, basically, and by imagining seeing, you're forced to choose a particular image, rather than a generic street of indeterminate business, filled with generic shops of no particular design, and houses of no particular architecture.
