My first thought was adultery, not abuse. I wouldn't expect anyone to stay in an abusive relationship, but people still manage to surprise me.
Sorry for the confusion, thanks for the clarification. I'm glad you're making progress, and wish for it to continue. I'm glad that you came to your senses, and I hope that the damage you feel guilty for proves reversible.
