Well, they told you shorts, right? I mean, you are parking cars.
Think about going to a hotel in South Florida or the Island...they'd be wearing shorts. Tennis, running or cross trainer shoes would be appropriate. If it is hot, I'd suggest a moisture-wicking shirt to help keep you cool and dry. After all, if you are getting in other people's car they sure won't want you dripping all over the place!!
Just use un-common sense and you'll be fine!
