As opposed to releasing to the media evidence that an asteroid the size of Texas is going to smash into the eastern seaboard at exactly 12:57 EST, on June 19, 2006? I see absolutely no problem with getting that information out there. People, of course, can be relied upon to maintain civil order when faced with imminent destruction. Plus...it gives 'em time to update their last will & testament.
