I started watching when it came on Sci-fi. This is my first incarnation of Dr. Who.
I've been aware of the show since I was a kid, and they aired a version on PBS (Tom Baker's Doctor, I believe), but I always thought it was too weird.
Turns out, I wasn't mentally mature enough for it.
It's a shame about Christopher Eccleston leaving the role, but I'm looking forward to David Tennant as the new Doctor, now that I've read the posts above.
