I'm a fairly skilled 'cold reader' myself, so I recognise the skill in a lot of professional psychics. Most of them just use their knowledge of human behaviour and basic probability. There's a well known psychic who has a letters column in several papers here and if you look at her advice over a long time you start to spot certain patterns... However, people like Mrs Brewmaniac, they frighten me. It can't be easy to live with an ability like that.
