I have an auto-immune disease (Angkylosing Spondylitis), one of the manifestations of which is IBS/IBD/Crohn's/Ulcerative Colitis types of bowel dysfunction. The gist of this is that if anyone has an auto-immune related bowel (or any other) disorder, they should check out Low-dose Naltrexone. I have been taking this for a couple of months, and my bowels have been almost completely normal SINCE DAY ONE of treatment. I won't go into the science here, but if you want more info, let me know. It is cheap (>.40 per dose), safe (the dose is so low there are no side effects), and effective. Anyone that even suspects there is an auto-immune component to their IBD should get tested, and of the result is positive, try this.
