I just replaced a keyboard on a Dell "something_or-other" notebook for a friend. It didn't void the warranty. Dell sent the replacement keyboard ... total cost to my friend $19 + a couple of beers. It took about 5 minutes.
Call HP and see what they say. It may not be as easy as Dell (heh).
