I used to be the same way, all closed minded and into the same type of stuff you seem to be into, you just have to find that one artsist that bridges the gap and gets you moving in the right direction. I compare it to how I never liked hardcore because of the screaming. But then you find a punk band that only screams occasionally, which then bridges you over towards the more intense hardcore you never would have made the immediate jump to.
I think Talib Kweli was my first bridge, he's intelligent, good beats, nice voice, easy to understand, etc. Another good one is Atmosphere, he's so easy to bridge to from the Punk side of things. Hell he's signed to epitaph (or maybe anti, not sure but it's basically the same thing). See if you can find a gateway, if it works out, you'll be listening to Nas in no time.
