if it stops while the computer is on like it just says the same time while the computer is on for a few hours... i would guess its a virus. run a bunch of antivirus stuff hope for the best.

If it only loses track of time when the computer is off but works normal when the computer is on just with the time that isnt correct its the battery thats dead. If thats the case you can open up the computer and pop the battery off the motherboard. its about the size of a nickle a round disk looking thing. basicly like a giant watch battery. Take it to a radio shack or something like that and tell them you need one just like it. get home pop the new one in and it should be back to normal after you reset the time on the computer.

Third thing i can think of is its trying to auto update the time according to some outside server and you have a fire wall between you and the server that its trying to get the time from or the server just has the wrong time. in that case... stop it from trying to auto update itself. IF thats the case double click the clock in the corner and a menu will pop up then click the internet time tab and uncheck the box that tells it to check from a time server.

Last thing i can think of is.. your computer is posseed by some evil demon call a computer exorcist sacrafice the correct amount of virgin goats and everything should be fine.
