I used to (4~ish years ago) remap to arrow keys, binding important stuff to delete, pagedown, end, 0 on the keypad, rctrl and rshift. But as I played more and more games, I got tired of constantly remapping my controls everytime I was on an unfamiliar box, or I changed character profiles, or any number of reasons that the controls reset to default. Furthermore, I discovered that 99% of keyboards cannot take simultaneous input from the arrow keys. Try running diagonally using uparrow and leftarrow sometime -- you'll see what I mean. The arrow keys are function keys, and therefore only parse one at a time. If you do run diagonally, its because the game is noticing that both are pressed and selecting one from each. On most modern keyboards, however, five letter keys can be pressed simultaneously and read as such. It's a small difference, I suppose, but I like being able to run straight and strafe truly simultaneously, not in the "time-sharing" model of arrow-keys.
