Find yourself a copy of partition magic, create a partition and copy your music/videos to it, and format the primary windows partition. This allows you to get a fresh install of windows without losing your data. It could likely also be fixed by running a few tweak programs, such as TweakUI, to take the fancy things out of windows. Likewise, get yourself a good antispyware and antiadware program like Spybot or Lavasoft's Adaware. They're the most likely culprits for sudden computer slowdown, especially on a low-end system like yours. Furthermore, make sure that Windows is fully updated and that you're using a safe browser, such as Firefox or Opera. Remember that IE hasn't been truly updated in an ungodly amount of years, and is still plagued with vulnerabilities.
