If you go to some place like radioshack they sell preprinted packs of labels for around $2-$3. It comes with enough to label each end of a wire plus the jack it goes into with every letter and numbers 1-10.
Ok, after a search of their site it looks like they don't make them anymore. But they do have self-laminating labels like this
