It's certainly a health issue - I see not problem with it being here.
It sounds very distressing, so it's good that you have support from the medical profession and your family.
I hope there's a simple answer and a cure, or at least a treatment.
The spectre of memory loss hang over my family for many years, because my grandmother had ECT for a severe mental disorder in the 1970's, and forgot almost everything about life, such as how to operate cutlery, and what an orange was for.
