thanks. finally somebody to lay it out so that we don't constantly wonder WTF?
so, in the spirit of hands across the borders, I will not ignore what you have attempted to state, and try honestly to respond to your points.

Yup you're right. I met more than one. They are embarrassing. On the other side of the coin, I meet ex-torontonians who live in Calgary or Vancouver, and they are rabid in their dismissal of Ontario in general. Almost a converted hate for some reason that I cannot fathom. At any rate, there are plenty of towns big and small closer to toronto which can fit the bill for being a backwater, but there are also a lot of people from Calgary or Vancouver in the GTA for the Money, and cannot stand the hype of Ontario, and cannot stand that Toronto is *not* Vancouver. I hear it all the time: too hot, to spread out, too polluted, not enough mountains, no snow, too much snow.
I do know how I feel about being in Canada though. While on a vacation out west, I spent time in Seattle and area. When I returned to BC, I really felt that sense of relief that I had returned home.

It's perspective. If you like where you live, then what of it? It's a shame that it has to be dragged through the mud by a skewed media.

heh. can't blame fans for being "homers" what else have we gotten lately? In my defence, i have never jumped off the bandwagon. I have been resolute in my support of the team, but suffer the angst of inadequacy. I have not been to a game since the team moved to the ACC. First, I am upset at the loss of MLG, and secondly, I am not rich enough to attend a game. I enjoy my 8 year old's ball hockey games immensely more.

No, and it shouldn't be - if the Leafs get the majority of the viewership then they should get the best coverage. However, don't expect the rest of the Canadian hockey fans to be happy about it.

I agree. I don't expect anybody to be happy if their teams suffer in coverage. I was under the impression that coverage was regional. Like I said, while living in Vancouver (admittedly 1980, 1984, timeframe) If I wanted to watch the Leafs, I had to tune in at 5 PM, otherwise it was all Canucks. All the time. For which I was grateful. I love those Canuckleheads...
But I had no idea that other teams were taking a hit so that the mediocre Leafs could be aired. How could I know, unless somebody speaks up (like you)?

you say arrogance. well, again, I don't get it. (see arguments above for homerism) and part of it may be assumptions that we all get the same treatment from the media for broadcasting games.
I think that the award for arrogance should go to the Sens.
However, I see that you took umbrage to my little quip about the founding of HNIC. (*sigh*).
While I meant it in the light hearted manner of the tone of my previous (booster-ish) post, I put that there, because that actually is the reason that HNIC was started. NOT that that is any reason for it to continue that way ...
